Motivation: The Real Instrument to Losing Weight

To start of frankly, if you are overweight and know about the concerns that the spreading epidemic creates but refuse to act upon the problem I must contribute my voice of disapproval. Candidly, you may argue that you have tried commercialized diets and protein shakes eagerly awaiting miracle results, but the truth is that 90% of the time these advertised diets that you so preciously engage in are short-lived, not because they do not work but because of the lack of willpower and motivation to continue these diets for an extended period of time. That right there is the key to becoming healthier, and along with a small sense of patience anyone can lose weight regardless the situation.

Now touching back on the premise of advertised diets, the truth is that most of these diets do help individuals shed some pounds in a slightly rapid manner. However, the problem concerning this area is the continuation and lack of exercise these diets involve. Rarely do you see individuals continue these diets for at best a few months because of the static routine of eating the same kind of food everyday becomes tiresome. And unfortunately since these individuals disregard exercise in most cases, and apply their full concentration to what they put in their mouth, when they feel the diet is complete they often regain extra weight quicker than originally lost. If the individual is able to sustain his or her connection with the marketed diet, then I applaud these individuals with many accolades, not because they used a specific diet prescribed to them, but because they had the motivation and willpower to do so. While you may argue that there must be a better and healthier way to garner some of this respect, I admit there is but only originating from the same emotional response.

If you feel that you are not able to achieve this emotional response by utilizing such ideals that you are dissent from achieving a look or it does not fit your personality, the best advice I can give it to take off your clothes and stand in front of your mirror. Take a few moments and reflect on how you look and what you want to look like, thinking about all the missed opportunities and health troubles you could of avoided if only you took the proper steps to correct this misfortunate you have accumulated over your life. After possibly having an immediate sense of depression or anxiety after looking at yourself naked, you should have a followed reaction of a desire to do something about your situation. If you cannot behave or feel in such a manner, then I advise that you stop reading this article right now because I can no longer help you if you do not want to help yourself. If you do now contain this sense of adrenaline of wanting to prove to yourself that you can help your body, the most important step now is to retain this vibrancy throughout your dieting. Now unfortunately other events will come up during the next few stages altering your mood in some cases in a dramatic manner which is understandable, but to revive this feeling that you should have, the best option is to reread this paragraph again and follow the steps to ensure your motivation lingers.

You may now be asking yourself if the process has been successful, and while I cannot comment on every person who has lost weight, the practice has worked successfully for me as I have lost near 35 pounds in close to four months. Along with having this wanton motivation to help my body, the next step comes in the form of my diet. Water and one of milk, tea, or coffee should be your only source of liquid where water should be taken in the form of eight to 10 cups a day. Breakfast is also very important as it starts your metabolism early; the scientific way of losing weight. Suggestions for food include protein based substances such as a peanut butter sandwich (wheat bread), milk, yogurt, or vitamin filled cereal. Your lunch can range from a sandwich with wheat bread, cheese, and turkey, to soup or salad depending on your preference. Dinner can vary, but I suggest having one meat (chicken, egg, turkey, or beef), one side of vegetables, and one side of pasta (wheat noodles, or spaghetti). For desert I also recommend a piece of fruit such as an apple or orange to fix that craving you might have. That piece of fruit should also be used as a snack during the course of the day between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner as eating that apple will not only appease your hunger but help your metabolism in the process. However, I do not recommend eating more than a serving of fruit or other healthy substitutes during these in between periods. Sweets and sugars such as ice cream, candy bars, cakes, pies, and potato chips should be 99% out of your diet at all costs. While maybe every month or so you can enjoy a slice of cake at a friends birthday party, I do not recommend anything more as you are defeating the whole purpose of making yourself healthier. In terms of complementing the diet with exercise I suggest following my plan. While everyones schedule is different I would argue that all of these activities should be squeezed in everyday as they take up no more than 45 minutes. In the morning I would take a galloon of water and start lifting it from my sides to the top of my head 105 times for each hand in sets of 35. While the process may seem tedious, the results are amazing as you not only increase your muscle mass but increase your metabolism by sustaining the new muscle. During the afternoon after work or school I would then spend 25 minutes jogging at a constant pace nonstop. While to beginners like the process of lifting the galloons of water 105 times, you might need to start slower such as walking half the time instead of the full 100% jog. The process is fine and you should be able to increase your percentage of jogging after a little while but be sure to do it at least for 25 minutes. After this I would immediately get on the floor and do 40 pushups, 100 sit-ups, and 80 curl ups in sequential order. While the numbers will start at the small side near the beginning, by constantly putting your body through the motions everyday, you should eventually reach my numbers and probably surpass them by losing weight in the process and making this whole experience worthwhile.

Sound easy? It may, but also consider that you are reading this and have not experienced the obstacles that may hinder your chance at success. You may suddenly feel the urge to eat that donut your co-worker offered you, or decide to skip a day of exercise. Dont. If you feel any hesitation about completing the program take off your clothes, stand in front of that mirror, and regain your original optimism and sagacity. You may consider that the process is too grueling and harder than anything you have ever done, but think about all your other experiences unrelated to losing weight. You had a hard time to find a job, buy a house, finance your purchases, and thus, losing weight should be simple juxtaposed to these adventures if you reflect upon these or similar difficulties. The method may be hard at the beginning but that is only because the process is new and takes time to adjust just like any new experience, and soon it will become routine and you will want to take that 25 minute job or eat your broccoli because it seems so natural rather than an annoyance. However, none this will come unless you truly believe in your abilities and have the motivation and desire, the key component, to make your life healthier.
